What

is Ignite?

There is an overwhelming abundance of evidence that proves the positive effects that exercise has on preventing disease progression in Parkinson’s disease. The RIGHT type of exercise can help to change your brain chemistry and even allow for restoration of function for people with Parkinson’s. Unfortunately, there is a significant lack of resources to effectively accomplish these recommendations with support.

Ignite is a group of active physical therapists who work with patients with Parkinson’s disease. We are frequently educating patients on the benefits of intensive exercise but are unable to give them access to a community program. We saw the gap and decided it was time to fill it.

Ignite Fitness will be offering group community exercise classes that following up to date evidence. We focus on large amplitude, high intensity, and high-speed exercise training as well as techniques to reduce rigidity and improve balance/flexibility. We will offer exercise to target the common symptoms including bradykinesia, rigidity, incoordination, imbalance, and fatigue. We hope to offer a collaborative and motivating environment to learn how to best fight this disorder together.
